Thousands flock to Cranleigh for the Christmas Lights Switch On
During an exciting programme of entertainment and events organised by the Cranleigh Chamber of Commerce, Ewhurst resident Jones wished Cranleigh a very Merry Christmas as he switched on the lights for the Christmas Tree in Fountain Square and decorations along the High Street.
Crowds braved the coldest day of the year to date to enjoy live music, dancing, community carol singing, fairground rides, food and drink from local producers and a range of attractions throughout the village.
The festivities then carried on into the evening, with a live music ‘after-party’ a feature of the Cranleigh Christmas Lights for the first time.
Commenting on the successful event, a Cranleigh Chamber of Commerce spokesperson said:
“It is such a privilege to take responsibility for this important annual event in the village. Everything went to plan after countless hours of hard work by our team of volunteers.
“We are particularly grateful to the Cranleigh Lions and Rotary Club of Cranleigh for supporting this event, demonstrating how much we can all achieve for the village when working together.
“The event and provision of Christmas Lights would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors, the entertainers who all donated their time for the evening and our band of merry volunteers who braved the freezing weather to keep all of the visitors to this event safe.”
