World Autism Awareness Day 2016
Businesses of Cranleigh are being asked to please help Jigsaw Trust shine a light on Autism this April and support the World Autism Awareness initiative.
The 2nd of April each year is now firmly established, following the 2008 UN Declaration, as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD). Jigsaw Trust has long supported WAAD by hosting awareness events and participating in the global ‘Light it up Blue’ campaign.
Light it up Blue is a unique worldwide initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month. Many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities that take part to help shine a light on Autism.
In previous years we have hosted a concert by the fabulous Derek Paravicini Quartet in association with Cranleigh Arts Centre and 2016 will once again see Guildford Cathedral floodlit blue for five nights around 2nd April in support of this global initiative.
In addition, this year we will be running ‘Dress up Blue’ days throughout the month of April where local businesses and schools can get involved in helping raise awareness of Autism by wearing something blue for a day!
We are happy to support you in this by providing leaflets, posters, presentation to staff/pupils, PR support, etc. Other ideas for ‘going blue’ include: decorate your office or classroom blue; turn your Facebook profile blue; hold a blue-cake-sale; put up some blue fairy lights!
